St. John’s Area
. The Wilds at Salmonier
The Wilds at Salmonier, a short drive from St. John’s, is said to be the most challenging 18-hole championship golf course in the province. The course showcases the natural landscape. The Wilds puts golfers to the test, with over 6750 yards of play, with a par of just 72. For less experienced golfers, The Wilds has tee positions better-suited to their skills.
. Pippy Park Golf Course
Pippy Park Golf Course, located minutes from downtown St. John’s, offers golfers an excellent game of golf and an amazing view of the city. This course has an 18-hole (Admiral’s Green) as well as a challenging 9-hole (the Captain’s Hill – the original course) layout. Designed by Graham Cooke, Admiral’s Green has hosted several national tournaments including the Canadian Junior, Juvenile, and Ladies championships.
Bonavista Bay
. The View Golf Course
The View Golf Course, measuring 2250 yards from the blue tees and 1920 yards from the red tees, is a 9-hole par 34 executive style course (playing time – 2-2.5 hours). Although The View is a short course, the design and strategically placed hazards make it a challenging one for experienced golfers - but not too difficult for novice players. Tee-times are booked far apart so golfers need never feel in a rush on this course. We also have some excellent Newfoundland vacation rentals in Bonavista Bay.
Terra Nova National Park
. Twin Rivers
Twin Rivers Golf Course, in Terra Nova National Park, is an award-winning golf course. This layout has been given the rank of Platinum by the Canadian Golf Course Ranking Magazine. For the past three years, Score Magazine has ranked the course as one of Canada’s top 30 courses and one of the top six in Atlantic Canada.
Golf Digest named ‘Twin Rivers’ as one of the top ten courses in Atlantic Canada in 2002. Recently, Golf Digest rated this golf course with 41/2 stars. Crisscrossing two salmon rivers and known as "Canada's Pebble Beach,” Twin Rivers Golf Resort is a scenic, first-class golf course.
. Eagle Creek Course
Eagle Creek, in Port Blandford, is a 9-hole course– on which golfers can excel - and over which bald eagles fly in all their glory. Besides its breathtaking beauty, this 2,593 yard, par 35 course, presents a challenge for the experienced golfer or an opportunity for those who prefer a shorter program.
Western Newfoundland
. Humber Valley – River Course
The Humber Valley - River Course, in Pasadena, was voted ‘Canada’s Best New Course 2007’ by Score Magazine. Designed by Canadian golf course architect Doug Carrick, this course culminates in the 18th where the backdrop rises to 400 feet in elevation up to the Eagle's Perch (golf reception, changing facilities, bars, and a banquet room). This 7,199 yard, 8-hole, par 72 championship golf course is just 20 minutes from Deer Lake Airport. This airport is serviced by non-stop flights from Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and St. John’s, as well as a seasonal charter from London Gatwick.
Central Newfoundland
. Gander Golf Course
Designed originally as a 9-hole course, Gander Golf Club is now amongst the most challenging 18-hole courses in the province. Yet this course still retains characteristics of the original nine holes with its sculptured greens and strategically placed sand traps. Located just off the Trans Canada Highway, the Gander Golf Club has a modern clubhouse, overlooking the lake, with a full restaurant and bar.
Labrador Golf
. Tamarack Golf Club
Located along Duley Lake and just ten minutes from Labrador City, Tamarack Golf Club, a beautifully designed 18-hole golf course, is popular with golfers. The club offers annual tournaments, a club house, pull carts and club rentals, and water driving range, as well as a snack bar. The course is open May-September.
. Amaruk Golf Club
Amaruk Golf Club, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, is a 6300 yard, nine-hole, 18-tee, par 71 course.
